Look At Me
Words and Music by Lisa Litman, © 1990

Introduction:

This is a fun song to sing during Tu b'Shevat to help children learn about trees. The song should be full of motion. Start by imagining each person in class is a tree. Feel your roots (toes) dig deep into the earth. Feel them drink water up through your toes, your legs (slurping noises add to the effect), your trunk, out through your branches. Feel the minerals tickle your fingers, then grow some leaves, flowers, and fruit. What kind of fruit did you grow? Think of different motions to use while singing the song.

Lyrics:

Look at me, I’m a tree,
And my roots go way down low.
Look at me, I’m a tree,
And my branches go up high, high, high!

Look at me, I’m a tree,
And my trunk is nice and strong.
I grow fruit. Yum! Yum!
I make shade. Ahhhh. Now won’t you help me sing my song!

Hooray for trees!
