This Month's Songs:

Lo Yisah

Introduction:

This is a different melody for the words featured in the song "Lay Down My Sword and Shield" posted in the Tevet section of this site. This song contains the important message of the prophet Isaiah: "and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more." (Isaiah, Chapter 2, v 4.) bears repeating, and it is appropriate for Lag ba Omer as well as Yom Ha'atzma'ut. We look forward to a time in our future when all problems can be solved peaceably.

Note: Please wait for this page to download completely before listening to the song. If you are not able to hear the song, please email Andy Zhang at andy@jcca.org.

Lyrics:

Lo yisah, Lo yisah,

Goy el goy cherev

Lo yisah, Lo yisah,

Goy el goy cherev

V 'lo yilm'du, V'lo yilm'du,

V'lo yilm'du od milchama.

You shall not lift up, (2x)

Nation to nation, a sword.

You shall not lift up (2x)

The flag of Israel!

You shall not study (2x)

You shall not study war anymore.
