Why This Recipe:

This is a fun recipe to make during Heshvan, when learning about the story of Noah.

Ingredients:

• 1 cup butter or margarine softened
• 1 cup sugar
• 1 egg
• 1 t vanilla
• 2t baking powder
• 3 cups flour
• extra flour (for covering surface to roll out dough and to coat cookie cutter)

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
    
2. Mix all of the ingredients together.
    
3. Knead dough until stiff.
    
4. Divide dough into two balls.
    
5. On floured surface roll each ball into a 12" circle about 1/8" thick.
    
6. Dip animal cookie cutter into flour and press onto dough. Repeat.
    
7. Cut at least two of each animal shape.
    
8. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet 6-7 minutes in 400 degree oven or until cookies are lightly brown.
