Purim Carnival
Introduction:
In celebration of Purim, have children in the older classes host a carnival where they run games of chance or skill for the younger children of the school. Have the older students create prizes for the younger students (stickers, drawings, etc.).
Carnival Game Ideas:
- Pin the hat on Haman/ pin the crown on King Ahasuerus- played like "pin the tail on the donkey", where children have to try to put a three-cornered hat on top of Haman's head or a crown on top of King Ahasuerus' head (using a poster or large drawing of Haman or King Ahasuerus).
- Find the hamentashen- Put 3 plates on a table. Put a piece of hamentashen on one of the plates. Put 3 cups face down on each of the plates, covering the one hamentashen. Have children try to guess which cup the hamentashen is under. Have the students guess until they find the hamentashen. Give the students the hamentashen as a prize.
- Ring toss
- Bowling
- Toss the beanbag at Haman
- Guess the colors on a spinning wheel, etc
Ask your students to brainstorm types of games.
