Shofar Cookies


Why This Recipe:

The shofar is blown every morning during the month of Elul. Enjoy making and eating these cookies throughout the month.

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 lb. margarine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 4 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup ground nuts
  • confectioner's sugar for dusting.

Directions:
  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
     
  2. Mix all the ingredients well to form a smooth dough.
     
  3. Pinch off 1 inch balls and roll between hands to form shofar shapes.
     
  4. Bake on greased cookie sheets at 350° for about 15 minutes.
     
  5. Roll in confectionner's sugar while wtill warm. Makes about 50 cookies.
