This Month's Activities:

Mitzvah-To-Be-Happy Hats

Introduction:

Explain to the children that there is a MITZVAH to be happy the whole month of ADAR. It is also a mitzvah to make others happy. When people see these happy/funny hats they will smile and be happy!

Materials

  • Construction Paper
  • Scissors
  • glue
  • tape

Directions
  1. Cut big circles out of paper for the face

  2. Cut different shapes out of paper for eyes, nose and mouth

  3. Paste shapes onto the circle to make silly or happy faces!

  4. Make a band out of paper to fit around the child's head.

  5. Attach the face to the band so the children can wear it as a hat!

Discussion Questions:

Who is in charge of making us happy?
What can we do to make ourselves happy?
Can we force others to be happy?

Special thanks to Leora Feldman of the Jewish Community Center of Wilmington, DE for providing us with this wonderful activity.
