Photo Megillah
Introduction:
This clever idea, which comes to us from Chavie S. in California, involves having students reenact the different scenes described in the Megillah, photographing them and then using the photographs to create individual photo Megillah's for each student. This is a great activity to do after teaching students about the Purim story, in order to help them to remember and reflect upon the story.
Directions
- Have students make their own Purim costumes. Have the children dress up as Purim characters.
- Describe one of the scenes from the Megillah and ask students to reenact the scene. Take a photograph of them acting out the scene. Continue until the students have acted out several scenes from the Megillah.
- Place several photographs side by side on a sheet of paper (keeping the scenes in order). Photocopy the images. Continue until you have photocopied all of the scenes.
- Place the photocopied sheets side by side and tape, glue or staple them together to form one long continuous stream of paper.
- Roll up the paper to create a Megillah scroll. Give one Megillah to each student.
