Introduction:
This is a time of year for reflecting. Depending upon the age of the children, these observations can range from personal accomplishments like tying shoes, to complex thought processes about making friends or controlling one's temper. Space can be saved in the book for what the child would like to be able to do in the coming year.
Materials
- Several sheets of drawing / writing paper
- Colorful paper for a cover
- yarn to "bind " the book on the side
- Photographs, magazine cut-outs, markers, crayons, and other creative ways to illustrate the past year or season
Directions:
- Discuss with the classroom children some of their endeavors or experiences of the past year or season.
- Help the children figure out ways to represent these events or ideas.
- Find a space on each page to write the child's comments.
- Ask the children to read their books to one another.
